ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said Pakistan and the United States share a long-standing relationship based on mutual respect, shared interests and a common commitment to advancing peace, security and prosperity.

In a letter to United States President Donald Trump on the 250th anniversary of the United States, President Zardari extended felicitations to the American leadership and people, praising the country’s enduring legacy of strength, innovation, freedom, democracy and opportunity.

He said the remarkable achievements of the American people over the past two and a half centuries had contributed significantly to global progress and prosperity.

President Zardari said Pakistan-United States ties had been further strengthened by the vibrant Pakistani-American community, whose achievements and contributions continued to enrich both societies and serve as a lasting bridge of friendship and understanding.

Describing the bilateral relationship as being on an ascendant trajectory, he said renewed engagement between Islamabad and Washington reflected a shared determination to build a stronger and future-oriented partnership.

The president stressed the need to sustain this momentum through structured cooperation in energy security, trade and investment, defence, counter-terrorism and other areas of mutual interest.

He said a strong Pakistan-United States partnership contributed directly to regional peace and security, adding that dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation remained essential for sustainable solutions.

President Zardari also said the people of Pakistan would be honoured to host President Trump in Islamabad at his earliest convenience.
