RIYADH: The Saudi Red Sea Authority has issued a yacht chartering licence to One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Ltd. Co., marking a further step in the Kingdom’s efforts to regulate and expand its fast-growing coastal tourism industry.
According to the authority, the move forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen marine tourism along the Red Sea coast while ensuring high standards of safety, environmental protection and service quality.
The latest licence adds to the Kingdom’s growing portfolio of approved yacht rental operators as it seeks to attract investment and develop sustainable tourism infrastructure, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The regulator, which oversees maritime and navigational tourism activities, said it is responsible for issuing the necessary licences and permits while also developing rules and standards for coastal tourism marinas. It further supports marina development and encourages private sector participation in maritime ventures.
Before granting approval, the authority verifies that applicants meet strict requirements, including yacht seaworthiness and full compliance with safety, security and environmental regulations. Officials said these conditions are designed to ensure reliable operations and safeguard marine ecosystems.
The licensing framework is intended to improve operational efficiency in yacht rental services, expand tourism options across the Red Sea coastline, and create quality employment opportunities within the sector. It also aims to promote sustainable growth by balancing investment incentives with environmental responsibility.
With the latest approval, the total number of yacht rental establishment licences issued by the authority has reached nine as of the second quarter of 2026, reflecting steady progress in the development of Saudi Arabia’s marine tourism industry.
