ISLAMABAD: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, the OIC commended the diplomatic efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar, along with other countries that played a constructive role in bridging differences and facilitating the understanding.

The organisation expressed hope that the agreement would be implemented in full and encouraged all parties to engage sincerely in the forthcoming rounds of negotiations to address outstanding issues. It stressed that sustained dialogue is essential for maintaining peace, security, and stability across the region.

Pakistan will host the signing ceremony of the landmark US–Iran peace agreement, scheduled to be held in Geneva on 19 June, aimed at ending months of military confrontation between the two sides.
