MADINAH: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque offers comprehensive and accessible services for people with disabilities and elderly visitors at the Prophet’s Mosque during the Hajj season, ensuring ease of access, mobility, and prayer.

These services include 4,700 wheelchairs available at designated locations within the mosque and its courtyards, which can be borrowed from gate management offices and service points, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

Electric carts, accommodating multiple passengers, transport over 8,000 elderly individuals and people with disabilities daily across the mosque’s outer courtyards.

The service network also features prayer areas near the mosque’s main entrances, equipped with dedicated paths for wheelchairs and mobility devices, as well as accessible entrances, lifts, ramps, and guidance signage.

Reserved parking spaces for vehicles belonging to people with disabilities are provided near entrances in the underground parking area.

Field staff and volunteers offer guidance and assistance, while Braille copies of the Quran, translated sermons, and interactive digital maps help visitors navigate facilities and services.

More than 7,500 personnel are deployed during Hajj to manage operations, focusing on crowd control and multilingual support, ensuring pilgrims can perform their worship with ease and comfort.
