Prime Minister Sharif made the remarks while addressing the sixth International Paigham-e-Islam Conference in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s mediation efforts, noting that these had helped open channels for negotiations between the US and Iran.

He expressed confidence that the dialogue would soon lead to lasting peace in the region, without further loss of human life.

Historic role in promoting peace

Describing Pakistan’s role as historic, he said that history would remember the country’s efforts in golden words.

He also commended the contributions of the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for his role in securing a ceasefire and facilitating talks.

Saudi Crown Prince and allies acknowledged

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for his part in advancing the peace process.

He added that China, Türkiye, and other friendly nations had also contributed to these efforts.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that Pakistan had maintained a balanced and principled stance in the current regional context.

Strengthening Pakistan–Saudi Arabia ties

He further noted that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had entered a new phase in their bilateral relations, underscoring that the protection, defence, and security of the Haramain Sharifain (The Two Holy Mosques) were dearer to us than our lives.

He said the defence agreement between the two countries reaffirmed this unwavering commitment.

Support for Palestine and Kashmir reiterated

Reiterating Pakistan’s principled position, he stated that the country would continue to stand by the people of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir until they achieved their right to self-determination.

Call for Unity within Muslim Ummah

The Prime Minister also urged religious scholars to promote unity and harmony within the Ummah in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

He stressed that those who incite division and engage in terrorism cannot be regarded as true Muslims.

Commitment to regional peace reaffirmed

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, addressing the second session of the Conference, stressed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability.

He highlighted the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to promote de-escalation and dialogue both within the region and beyond.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, while stressing the need for unity among Muslim nations.

OIC’s role and Muslim Unity emphasised

He underscored the central role of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and called for collective efforts to advance the welfare of the Ummah.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s leadership in addressing Islamophobia on the global stage and in promoting interfaith harmony.

The Deputy Prime Minister paid tribute to Pakistan’s resilience and national resolve, reflecting on the anniversary of Marka-e-Haq (last year’s war against India).
