KARACHI: Hyderabad Kingsmen registered a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Islamabad United in the 21st match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Sunday, marking their second consecutive win in the tournament.
The result extended the Kingsmen’s resurgence after a difficult start to the campaign, having now followed up their win over Karachi Kings with another convincing performance.
Chasing a modest target of 154, Hyderabad Kingsmen reached 154/4 with 11 balls to spare, thanks to a composed unbeaten half-century from captain Marnus Labuschagne.

Labuschagne led from the front with 61 not out off 53 deliveries, striking six fours, and guided his side through the chase with calm authority.
He was well supported by Maaz Sadaqat and Saim Ayub, who scored 30 and 35 respectively to provide early momentum.
Later, Glenn Maxwell added the finishing touch with a brisk unbeaten 21 off just nine balls, ensuring there were no late hiccups.
For Islamabad United, stand-in captain Chris Green and Faheem Ashraf claimed two wickets each but failed to prevent the defeat.
Asif Mehmood leads bowling effort
Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen’s decision to field first paid off as they restricted Islamabad United to 153/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Debutant Asif Mehmood starred with the ball, taking four wickets for just 18 runs, including a decisive final over that curtailed United’s late surge.
He was supported by Mohammad Ali, who picked up two wickets, while Maxwell chipped in with one.
Islamabad United began well, with Sameer Minhas and Devon Conway putting on 56 runs for the opening wicket.
Minhas scored a quickfire 22 off 13 balls before being dismissed, while Conway anchored the innings with 45 off 31 deliveries.
However, the innings lost momentum after both Conway and Mohammad Faiq were run out in the 10th over, leaving United at 89/3.
Further setbacks followed as Haider Ali and Faheem Ashraf departed cheaply, reducing United to 113/5 in the 16th over.
Amid the collapse, Mark Chapman offered resistance with a fighting 42 off 30 balls, including three fours and two sixes.
But his efforts were not enough as Mehmood struck repeatedly in the final over, dismissing Imad Wasim, Mehran Mumtaz and Green to prevent Islamabad United from posting a competitive total.
