ABU DHABI: To promote teaching as a favoured career among Emiratis and satisfy Emiratization goals, schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have established a programme where they would hire and educate recent Emirati graduates to become fully-qualified teachers.
In order to train Emiratis and prepare them for employment as teachers, Taleem, one of the largest education organizations in the UAE, will launch this programme in September.
Employment as teachers
Additionally, in line with goals for Emiratization, another education organization, Gems, will employ and train additional graduates from the UAE. The UAE government’s Emiratization initiative calls for companies with more than 50 employees to gradually increase the percentage of Emiratis they employ to 10 percent by 2026.
Opportunity for high school graduates
The programme to train new instructors will begin in the next academic year, starting in September, according to Talat Goldie, HR Director of Taaleem. She added that even recent high school and college graduates who are interested in teaching could be hired as learning assistants.
Talat added that with a three to five-year-year plan, they might be developed into effective teachers with the potential to rise to vice principals and school principals in the future. She claimed that Taaleem’s ultimate ambition is to have an Emirati principal.
Taleem will explore the Northern Emirates for hidden Emirati talent, particularly recent high school graduates from Ajman, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah, she added.
