RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman shared a call with Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer about the ongoing regional situation in the Middle East, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Starmer reiterated the UK’s support for the Kingdom during the crisis, which began when the US and Israel attacked Iran on Feb. 28.

Since then, Tehran has been attacking its Arab neighbours, as well as Israel and US assets in the region, impacting security and forcing energy prices to rise sharply.

“Iran’s ongoing ‌attacks, including on ‌critical national infrastructure, were appalling,” Starmer said, according to a readout from the British premier’s office.

The Kingdom has received messages of support from its partners across the world during the crisis.

Emmanuel Macron

On Monday, during a call with the crown prince, President Emmanuel Macron expressed France’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, strongly condemning the repeated Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom.

Iran has unleashed a barrage of missiles and drones toward Saudi Arabia, mostly in the Eastern Province, where energy assets are concentrated.

At least 44 ballistic and seven cruise missiles and more than 600 drones have been fired toward the Kingdom since the start of the war.

Tehran has also choked off the Strait of Hormuz to ships carrying oil and other essential goods and vows the vital waterway will remain closed until the US and Israel end their war on Iran.

US President Donald Trump has signalled that diplomatic overtures to end the war are ongoing, and the “people” that Washington is speaking to “want to make a deal so badly.”
