RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a series of high-level phone calls on Wednesday with leaders of Iraq and Indonesia coordinating strategies in response to escalating Iranian missile and drone attacks in the Middle East.
The Crown Prince received a phone call from President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
During the call, the leaders discussed the ongoing military escalation in the region and its far-reaching implications for both regional and global peace.
The President of Indonesia stressed the urgent need to halt all military operations, warning that continued hostilities could seriously undermine security and stability in the region.
The Crown Prince also received a phone call from Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq.
During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the ongoing military escalation in the region and its impact on security and stability.
Prime Minister al-Sudani emphasised the urgent need to halt attacks that threaten both regional and international peace and security.
Tensions in the Gulf region have escalated following coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28.
The attacks have further reduced hopes for a diplomatic resolution to Tehran’s long-running dispute with Western countries and Israel over its nuclear programme.
In response, Iran announced it was targeting American military bases in several Gulf states. These strikes were strongly condemned by the affected countries, which reported that some attacks damaged civilian infrastructure.
