Hasan’s magnificent 100 laid the foundation for a commanding total before the Warriors’ bowlers, led by a devastating spell from Binura Fernando, dismantled the Royals’ chase to clinch the championship in emphatic fashion.
Hasan’s heroics set up commanding total
Sent in to bat, the Warriors’ innings was dominated by the left-handed Tanzid Hasan. Carrying his bat until the penultimate over, Hasan played a chanceless knock, scoring 100 off just 62 balls. His innings, a blend of power and precision, included seven towering sixes and six fours, systematically dismantling the Royals’ bowling attack.
He received steady support from Sahibzada Farhan (30) and Kane Williamson (24), while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 11. Their collective effort propelled the Warriors to a formidable 174/4, a total that proved insurmountable. For the Royals, Mukidul Islam and Shoriful Islam claimed two wickets apiece.
Fernando leads bowling rout in chase
Faced with a target of 175, the Chattogram Royals’ chase never gained momentum. The Warriors’ bowlers struck at regular intervals, reducing the Royals to 111 all out in just 17.5 overs.
Only opener Mirza Tahir Baig (39 off 36) offered significant resistance, with Asif Ali (21) being the only other batter to cross 20. The innings was decisively shattered by Binura Fernando, who produced a sensational spell of 4/9 in his three overs. His searing pace and accuracy decimated the Royals’ middle and lower order.
He was superbly supported by left-arm spinner Hasan Murad, who took 3/15, and James Neesham, who chipped in with two wickets, ensuring the Royals were never in the contest.
