DAVOS, Switzerland: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday held a series of meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
The two leaders met with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir also attended US President Donald Trump’s address to world leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Wednesday.

The prime minister is on a three-day visit to Davos from January 20 to 22, where he is leading a high-level delegation.
On Wednesday, he addressed a breakfast meeting at the Pakistan Pavilion on the sidelines of the WEF, emphasising that export-led growth remains the only viable path forward for Pakistan.
In his remarks, the prime minister said Pakistan was “moving forward with a sense of achievement and purpose,” highlighting a decline in inflation and a reduction in the policy rate.
He also met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, whom he briefed on improvements in Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators, ongoing stabilisation measures, and progress on institutional reforms, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fiscal discipline, revenue mobilisation, and sustainable development, the statement added.
PM Shehbaz also held a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The premier arrived in Davos on Tuesday and said in a post on X that the visit aimed to strengthen Pakistan’s engagement at the WEF with global trade and investment partners.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister of Thailand Sihasak Phuangketkeow also held a meeting in Davos today.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expand cooperation across diverse domains, including economic, trade, investment and agriculture.
During the meeting, they reviewed Pakistan-Thailand bilateral relations. They also discussed regional and international developments.
Both sides congratulated each other over seventy-five years of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Deputy PM Dar also met with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.
During the meeting, they discussed Pakistan-ICRC cooperation across various areas and exchanged views on further strengthening collaboration on matters of mutual interest.
