Saudi Arabia renewed its full support for the efforts of the Syrian government to promote civil peace and preserve Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Under the agreement, all Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) units will be integrated into the Ministries of Defence and Interior, with Kurdish forces redeploying to areas east of the Euphrates River.
The 14-point accord would also see immediate administrative and military handover of the Deir Ezzor and Raqqa governorates.
The Syrian state will regain control over all border crossings, oil fields, and gas installations in the region, with regular forces tasked with securing these assets to ensure the return of resources to the central government, while taking into account the special status of Kurdish-majority areas, according to the state news agency SANA.
The ceasefire follows a period of intense fighting between the SDF and government forces in Aleppo. SDF units have since withdrawn from the area, allowing the Syrian army to establish control over most territories east of the city.
It may be recalled that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, on Sunday received a phone call from Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, where the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), during the call, they reviewed relations and opportunities to enhance them in various fields.
They also discussed the latest regional developments and a number of topics of mutual interest, it said.
Saudi Arabia has always supported Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of enhancing stability and extending security in a manner that serves the interests of the Syrian people.
