RABAT, Morocco: Pakistan and Morocco on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding on Defence Cooperation, marking an important milestone in further strengthening bilateral defence and security collaboration between the two nations.

The MoU was signed during the visit of Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif to Morocco, an official statement said.

The Defence Minister held a meeting with the Moroccan Government in charge of National Defence Administration, Abdellatif Loudyi, and led delegation-level talks focused on enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Defence Minister of Pakistan also held a separate meeting with Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Prior to the meetings, the Minister visited the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where he offered Fateha and signed the Mausoleum Guests Book.

These meetings offered both sides a platform to discuss a broad spectrum of bilateral and regional issues, reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, stability, and collaboration.

The visit reflects the long-standing friendly ties between Pakistan and Morocco and highlights their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation in defence, security, and other areas of mutual interest.

The bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Morocco is marked by cordial ties and historic fraternity, according to Pakistan’s foreign office.

Last year, the armies of Pakistan and Morocco held the third edition of their joint bilateral military exercise aimed at enhancing the professional skills of their soldiers and promoting defense relations between the two countries.

Pakistan and Morocco maintain a robust and expanding defence partnership, characterized by high-level diplomatic engagement, joint military training, and emerging industrial collaboration.
