ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Under-19 captain Farhan Yousaf said the team’s Asia Cup triumph against India has strengthened their ambition of winning the upcoming World Cup, as he set out clear goals for the young side following the continental title success.
Talking to the media, the young skipper underlined the squad’s soaring ambitions on the global stage. “Our next aim is simple,” Yousaf stated emphatically. “We want to be world champions.”
Reflecting on the high-pressure final, Yousaf revealed that losing the toss initially caused disappointment. However, being asked to bat first quickly turned into a strategic advantage.
“We were disappointed to lose the toss, but once we were put in to bat, we were happy because the wicket looked good,” he explained. “We stuck to the plan we had discussed and executed it well.”
The execution was near-perfect, as Pakistan amassed a commanding total of 347 runs.
Aggressive Bowling Mindset
With a massive score on the board, Yousaf revealed his tactical instructions to the bowling unit, designed to prevent any complacency.
“After we got that total, I told the bowlers to think as if they were defending 250 and to attack from the start,” the captain said. “They kept that mindset, took wickets and applied pressure.”

This aggressive approach successfully stifled the Indian chase, securing the title for Pakistan.
Electric Atmosphere
The final was amplified by a vibrant, packed stadium featuring passionate supporters from both nations, an environment Yousaf said elevated the experience.
“Playing such an important match with fans from both countries in the stadium made it even more enjoyable,” he remarked.

Path to the World Cup
Having conquered Asia, Pakistan’s Under-19 team now turns its attention to the upcoming global challenge.
Their roadmap includes a tri-nation series in Zimbabwe as a crucial preparatory step before the premier event, the Under-19 World Cup.
Born in Kasur, Punjab, on December 15, 2006, Farhan Yousaf is a right-handed middle-order batter who has rapidly emerged as one of Pakistan’s most promising young leaders.
His focus is now firmly set on translating this continental success into global silverware, carrying the hopes of a nation eager for future cricketing glory.
