ISLAMABAD: Pakistan dispatched its 27th consignment of relief items for the war-hit people of Gaza on Wednesday, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.
Coordinated by NDMA in collaboration with the Alkhidmat Foundation charity, the 100 tons of aid was sent via a chartered flight from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport to Gaza through Egypt.
The consignment includes blankets, tarpaulins, clothing, as well as hygiene and family kits, aimed at addressing the urgent needs of the affected population.
With this latest shipment, the total humanitarian assistance sent to Palestine through 27 consignments has reached 2,627 tons.
A ceremony was held at the airport to mark the dispatch of the relief shipment. Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, on the occasion, said that the government and people of Pakistan stand firmly with the Palestinian people during this challenging time.
He reaffirmed the commitment to continue all possible efforts to provide humanitarian assistance and meet the urgent needs of the affected population.
The latest shipment has been sent as Gaza continues to suffer severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies amid the ongoing conflict.
Since late 2023, Pakistan has remained among the countries providing regular humanitarian assistance, coordinating aid deliveries through Egypt to help ensure access to the besieged territory.
