ISLAMABAD: A westerly wave entering Balochistan’s North parts on Tuesday night will cause moderate rain in upper parts of the country from Wednesday to Friday, says the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
According to the PMD, standing crops in some areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa may benefit from the new weather pattern and lessen foggy conditions. A westerly wave that is expected to hit North Balochistan on Tuesday night would grip the upper parts of the country till Wednesday.
Rain forecast
Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Barkhan, Harnai, Nokkundi, Dalbandin, Qilla Saifullah, Qilla Abdullah, Chaman, Muslim Bagh, and Pishin could expect rain with snowfall (with isolated heavy fall) on January 10 night and January 11.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast cold and dry weather in most parts of the
country, while cloudy in western and upper districts. Rain/snow is likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and north Balochistan. Dense fog is likely to prevail over plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and upper Sindh.
Air quality
The air quality in Lahore is 187 US AQI; in Bahawalpur, it is 257, 197 in Muridke, and 154 in Rawalpindi. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 229 US AQI, 217 in Mirpur Khas, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 155. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) the air quality in Peshawar is 200 while 41 in Abbottabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET), a maximum of 5 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 7°C in Lahore, 15°C in Karachi, and 7°C in Peshawar, 4°C in Quetta and 2°C in Gilgit.
