The Prime Minister highlighted the potential to increase bilateral trade, currently over 550 million dollars, to one billion dollars within three years, supported by the Pakistan-GCC Free Trade Agreement, which is at advanced stage of finalization and recently eased visa requirements.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Bahrain on securing a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2026–2027 term and expressed Pakistan’s readiness for close coordination during its tenure.
Defence and security cooperation were highlighted, with both sides agreeing to expand collaboration in training, cybersecurity, defence production, and information sharing.
The leaders also discussed recent developments in Gaza, emphasising that the establishment of lasting peace and stability is long overdue for its people, who have endured decades of suffering.
The meeting concluded with mutual confidence that the discussions would lead to concrete outcomes, further strengthening Pakistan-Bahrain relations across strategic, economic, security, and people-to-people spheres.
Upon arrival at the place, the Prime Minister was presented with a guard of honour.
Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Crown Prince for the warm hospitality and commended Bahrain’s leadership in strengthening bilateral ties.
The premier on Wednesday arrived in Bahrain as part of a two-day official visit aimed at enhancing bilateral ties in trade, investment, energy, and other sectors.
The trip is expected to bolster the traditionally warm and cordial ties between the two nations, explore new avenues of partnership, and enhance people-to-people connections, contributing to mutually beneficial cooperation.
Pakistan and Bahrain enjoy strong diplomatic, security, trade, and defence relations, reinforced through joint training programmes, collaborative security initiatives, and regular high-level engagements.
Last month, the two countries agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation across various sectors during the inaugural meeting of the Pakistan–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group.
They also decided to form a joint working group to strengthen collaboration in areas including counter-narcotics, counterterrorism, coastguard operations, border security, immigration, and police training.
In addition, they resolved to sign memoranda of understanding on extradition, mutual legal assistance, and specialised battalion training.
Earlier, in September, both sides had also committed to expanding cooperation in counterterrorism, anti-narcotics, and immigration.
