ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces foiled a terrorist attack on Cadet College Wana in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday.
“On 10 November 2025, in a heinous and cowardly terrorist act, Khwarij belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij attacked Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan District,” said a statement issued by the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The state uses the term Fitna al Khwarij to refer to terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). It has also designated Balochistan-based groups as Fitna al Hindustan to highlight India’s role in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan. Similarly, the term ‘khwarij’ refers to Indian sponsored terrorists operating from Afghanistan’s territory.
The ISPR said that the assailants attempted to breach the perimeter security; however, their nefarious designs were swiftly foiled by the vigilant and resolute response of the Pakistani troops.
“In their desperation, the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the main gate, resulting in the collapse of the main gate and damage to adjacent infrastructure,” it said.
The statement added that the security forces, displaying unwavering courage and professional excellence, engaged the intruders with precision, eliminating two khwarij belonging to an Indian proxy, Fitna al Khwarij.
“However, three Khwarij managed to enter inside college premises who had been cornered in the College’s administrative block,” it said.
ISPR said that the attackers sought to carry out an attack similar to the 2014 Army Public School tragedy, in which TTP terrorists killed 147 people, including 132 schoolchildren, but were successfully neutralised before they could cause large-scale harm.
“Aimed at instilling fear amongst the young generation of erstwhile tribal areas who are acquiring quality education at their doorstep to excel in life and achieve a better future for not only themselves and their families but also for their communities,” it said.
The statement further said that Khwarij hiding inside college premises were in contact with their masters and handlers in Afghanistan and are getting instructions.
“This blatant act of barbarism orchestrated by Khwarij from Afghanistan is in contrast to assertions made by the Afghan Taliban Regime claiming non-presence of these terrorist groups on their soil,” said ISPR.
It warned that Pakistan reserves the right to respond against terrorists and their leadership present in Afghanistan.
The military’s media wing said a sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored Kharji found in the area.
It said the relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in cross-border terror incidents since Taliban rulers returned to Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
Pakistan has consistently urged the Interim Afghan Government to implement effective border management on their side and is expected to fulfill their obligations by preventing Afghan territory from being used by Khwarij and stopping the involvement of Afghan citizens in acts of terrorism within Pakistan.
