RIYADH: The Saudi aid agency, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), continues to make a significant impact by delivering vital support to some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
In Syria, the organisation has carried out five week-long medical missions in Damascus, providing specialised care in cardiac and catheterization procedures, orthopedic and joint surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pediatric surgery, and blindness prevention, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
During these missions, the KSrelief team examined 5,300 patients, distributed 710 pairs of prescription glasses, and performed 473 eye surgeries, 106 pediatric surgeries, 117 plastic and reconstructive surgeries, 63 orthopedic surgeries, 51 open-heart surgeries, and 54 therapeutic catheterizations.
The agency also distributed 820 food baskets in the Rif Dimashq governorate, helping 820 families, according to the SPA.
The 72nd KSrelief aid aircraft, organised in coordination with the Ministry of Defence and the Saudi Embassy in Cairo, delivered food baskets, shelter kits, and electric wheelchairs to Palestinians in Gaza through Egypt’s El-Arish International Airport.
In Yemen, KSrelief’s Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Centre in Seiyun, Hadramout governorate, provided medical care to 519 amputees over the course of a month.
The centre delivered a total of 1,925 services, including the manufacturing and fitting of prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation programs, physical therapy, and specialised consultations.
Additionally, the agency distributed 1,000 cartons of dates in Marib governorate, benefiting 6,000 people, including displaced families and individuals with disabilities.
