ISLAMABAD: The 4th European Film Festival (EUFF) returns to Pakistan this November, bringing audiences in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore a vibrant celebration of European cinema and cross-cultural exchange.

Organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan and curated by Olomopolo Media, the festival will feature 19 feature films and 10 shorts from EU member states, highlighting shared human stories, creativity, and global dialogue through film.

The festival will take place across three cities, Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, celebrating the power of cinema to unite people, provoke thought, and foster dialogue.

The programme spans a variety of genres, from heartfelt dramas and compelling documentaries to light-hearted comedies and thrilling narratives.

The themes covered in the films range from family dynamics, childhood, and romance, to the pressing global issues of climate change, human rights, and economic struggles.

Cinematic Journey Across Pakistan

The festival kicks off in Islamabad on 7th November at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), where audiences can enjoy screenings from 4 pm to 9 pm on the first day, and from 11 am to 9 pm on the second day.

The Islamabad leg will feature films like Behind the Curtain of High Mountains (Czech Republic), Without Air (Hungary), That They May Face the Rising Sun (Ireland), and The Olive Tree (Spain).

Families and younger audiences will be treated to films like Itty Bitty Princess (Finland) and My Dad is a Sausage (Belgium).

The festival will also host a social dance on Day One and a dramatic reading on Day Two, creating an immersive artistic experience.

The festival then moves to Karachi, where it will take place at the Karachi Film School from 15th-16th November.

The screenings will run from 5 pm to 10 pm on the first day and from 11 am to 9 pm on the second day.

Karachi will also feature a Filmmakers Mixer, promoting dialogue between local filmmakers and their European counterparts.

The festival’s final destination will be Lahore, where the celebrations will conclude at the Alhamra Arts Council on 22nd-23rd November, featuring screenings, live performances, and interactive installations.

Immersive Cultural Experience

Beyond film screenings, EUFF 2025 promises an array of interactive installations and immersive experiences.

These include the Wall of Fame, which traces a century of European cinema through the voices of twenty-four influential filmmakers.

Other activities include the Auteur Ego, Human Slot Game, and 360° camera, designed to engage audiences in a playful, creative way.

Spaces like the Reading Nook and Kids’ Corner provide a place for reflection and exploration, while photobooths and curated food kiosks add to the festive atmosphere.

Festival for All

The EUFF 2025 is free and open to the public, welcoming families, students, local artists, diplomats, and film enthusiasts.

The event offers a platform for cultural exchange, dialogue, and a shared appreciation for European cinema.
