ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have killed four “Indian sponsored” terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in southwestern Balochistan province, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a statement, said that on the night of November 1, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kalat district on the reported presence of militants belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al Hindustan.

The state uses the term Fitna al Khwarij to refer to terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). It has also designated Balochistan-based groups as Fitna al Hindustan to highlight India’s role in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan.

“During the conduct of the operation, the troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and resultantly, four Indian-sponsored terrorists were sent to hell,” it said.

“Weapons and ammunition [were] also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities,” it added.

“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorist found in the area,” the statement said, adding that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue to wipe out foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.

President, PM praise security forces

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have lauded the officers and officials of the security forces for the successful operation against terrorists in Balochistan.

The President, in his statement, termed the neutralising of four Indian-backed terrorists as a significant achievement for national security. He appreciated the resolve and commitment of security forces and law enforcement agencies.

President Asif Ali Zardari termed the continuity of operation “Azm-e-Istehkam” against anti-state elements as indispensable for national security.

In his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder by the armed forces of Pakistan in their unwavering resolve for the security of the motherland.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in cross-border terror incidents since Taliban rulers returned to Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
