KARACHI: The four-day Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) 2025 opened in Karachi on Monday, drawing 133 delegates from 44 countries as Pakistan seeks to attract international investment and expand its maritime sector.
Now in its second edition, the global exhibition will run from November 3 to 6 at Karachi Expo Centre, featuring 178 exhibitors — including 28 international firms and 150 local organizations — alongside senior government officials and business leaders from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
According to the Pakistan Navy, the event will include business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) meetings, the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding, and an international maritime conference on “Harnessing Blue Economy Potential for Sustainable Development.”
Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, Commander Karachi, told reporters that PIMEC aims to advance Pakistan’s “blue economy roadmap” and strengthen maritime collaboration. He said representatives from the UK, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Türkiye, Egypt, China, and Australia are among those attending.
“These engagements are designed to foster partnerships and promote growth across ports, shipping, fisheries, and coastal development,” Abbasi said, describing PIMEC as a platform to showcase Pakistan’s maritime potential.
Organizers said the expo will also highlight opportunities in hydrocarbon exploration, offshore renewable energy, marine tourism, aquaculture, seabed mining, and marine biotechnology — sectors seen as key to unlocking Pakistan’s ocean economy.
