ISLAMABAD: Bahrain’s Interior Minister, Lieutenant General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has expressed solidarity with Pakistan over the tragic loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by recent torrential monsoon rains and floods.
In a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, the Bahraini Interior Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.
He reaffirmed Bahrain’s steadfast support for Pakistan during this challenging time, stating, “We stand with our Pakistani brothers and sisters in this difficult hour and are ready to provide all possible assistance to the flood victims.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s solidarity and support. He highlighted the severe impact of the ongoing climate-induced crisis, noting that the devastation caused by floods, heavy rainfall, and sudden cloudbursts was overwhelming.
“Pakistan is among the countries most severely affected by climate change, and the scale of destruction is beyond description,” he said.
Both ministers reiterated their commitment to mutual cooperation and support in times of crisis, with Bahrain pledging assistance in relief efforts for the communities affected by the natural disaster.
Meanwhile, torrential monsoon rains, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, have killed at least 14 people and injured more than 60 across Pakistan on Saturday night, officials said.
The downpours have caused widespread flooding, power outages, and landslides, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Punjab, and the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, prompting emergency alerts and rescue operations.
