ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Omar Abdullah, has expressed disappointment over the New Delhi’s failure to restore statehood to the region on August 15, India’s Independence Day, according to NDTV.

Abdullah, while reflecting on the changes since Jammu and Kashmir lost its special status, stated, “More than 6 years have passed since the people of Jammu and Kashmir last heard their elected representative address them from here. When I last spoke from this platform, I was the Chief Minister of a state. We had our own identity in the country, a constitution, a flag, and statehood. Today, none of those remain.”

“Nothing happened”

Abdullah revealed that expectations were high for a significant announcement on August 15.

“We were hopeful that on 15th August, there would be a major announcement. I was even told that papers were being prepared. We waited, but nothing happened,” he added.
