ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Met Office has predicted strong winds and thundershowers in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, northeast Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan today (Thursday).
The Met Office said that during the forecast period, heavy rain is also expected at isolated places in Kashmir, east Punjab, Potohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It added that hot and humid weather are likely to persist in the southern parts of the country.
According to the Met Office, in Punjab, Gujranwala has received 47 mm of rain during the last 24 hours. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 38 mm rain has been recorded in Bannu during the period.
NDMA’s alert
Earlier, on Wednesday, Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued multiple impact-based weather alerts in view of an intensifying monsoon system across the country.
The citizens residing in flood-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during intense weather.
At the same time, a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood alert remains in place for the glaciated regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, until 3rd of next month, according to NDMA.
Vulnerable valleys include Badswat, Hinarchi, Tersat, Hundur, Darkut, Ishkomen, Shisper, Reshun, Brep, Booni, Sardar Gol, and Arkari.
