UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan and China on Monday called for advancing peace with responsibility in South Asia through multilateral cooperation and adherence to international law, warning that aggressive posturing and unilateral actions pose serious threats to regional security.
This was agreed during a meeting between China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Fu Cong, and Pakistan’s high-level parliamentary delegation led by former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in New York.
“Both sides agreed that aggressive posturing and unilateral actions threaten peace in the region and must be firmly opposed,” according to a statement.
Pakistan and China expressed a shared commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes, multilateral cooperation, upholding the principles of the UN Charter, preserving the sanctity of treaties and respecting international law.
The meeting discussed the evolving security situation in South Asia in the wake of India’s recent aggression and Pakistan’s consistent efforts to uphold peace and stability.
During the meeting, Bilawal expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Pakistan to China for its unequivocal support during the Indian “provocation”.
Bilawal apprised the Chinese side of the developments following the Pahalgam attack and Pakistan’s responsible and restrained conduct in response to India’s belligerent posture.
Pakistan’s Delegation in a meeting with China’s PR to the UN, Amb. Fu Cong, shared our post war perspective. I condemned India’s reckless actions, including its weaponization of water, and reaffirmed that IIOJK remains an unresolved dispute and a fault line for regional peace.…

The Pakistani delegation emphasised that it was regrettable that Pakistan’s offer of credible, impartial and independent investigations into the Pahalgam incident was rejected by India.
Bilawal reiterated the centrality of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute for sustainable peace in South Asia and urged China to play its role in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Security Council Resolutions through multilateral cooperation and engagement.
He emphasized the need for the international community to transition from conflict management to conflict resolution for lasting peace in South Asia.
The Pakistani delegation shared details of India’s attacks on Pakistani territory, its deliberate targeting of civilians, its active involvement in funding and supporting terrorism in Pakistan, and the provocative decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty — a move equated to the weaponization of water and a violation of international law.
Both sides agreed that aggressive posturing and unilateral actions threaten peace in the region and must be firmly opposed.
Pakistan wants peace with dignity
Earlier, upon reaching the United Nations, Bilawal said that he would become the voice of Pakistan at the United Nations.
He expressed these remarks ahead of the Pakistani delegation’s diplomacy on the international front to expose the nefarious designs of India.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Bilawal said that Pakistan seeks peace with dignity.
“As I arrive in New York to lead Pakistan’s delegation at the UN, I carry a clear message: Pakistan seeks peace with dignity, dialogue with purpose, and partnerships built on justice,” said Bilawal in his X post.

He added that the unresolved issue of Kashmir continues to threaten the regional peace and any aggression over shared water resources challenges not just Pakistan’s sovereignty, but global stability.
“We reject terrorism in all forms, yet oppose its misuse as a political tool to target Pakistan. Trade must become a bridge – not a battleground. It’s time for the world to engage, not ignore,” said Bilawal.
The Pakistani delegation will meet ambassadors of members of the UN Security Council.
The Pakistani delegation will also brief the UN Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly, and members of the Security Council.
The Pakistani delegation includes Dr Mosaddiq Malik, Senator Sherry Rehman, Engr Khurram Dastgir Khan, Tehmina Janjua, Jalil Abbas Jilani and Hina Rabbani Khar.
