LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan Women continued their impressive run in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier with a commanding 65-run win over the West Indies at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday, marking their third victory of the tournament.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a modest total of 191 runs in 49.5 overs, anchored by a patient half-century from Sidra Amin.

The right-hander scored 54 off 94 deliveries, hitting four boundaries.

Muneeba Ali (33) and Sidra Nawaz (23) provided useful contributions, steadying the innings after the early dismissal of opener Gull Feroza for just 2.

The West Indies bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings.

Hayley Matthews, Afy Fletcher, and Karishma Ramharack each picked up two wickets, while young spinner Ashmini Munisar impressed with economical figures of 1-29 from her 10 overs.

In response, the West Indies crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 126 in 39.2 overs.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana set the tone early, trapping her opposite number Hayley Matthews lbw on the very first ball of the innings.

The Caribbean side never recovered from the early blow, slumping to 29 for 3 inside the powerplay.

Run-outs added to their woes, with Zaida James and Shemaine Campbelle falling to poor judgement between the wickets.

Despite a brief fightback from Aaliyah Alleyne (22), Shabika Gajnabi (21), and Stafanie Taylor (17), the West Indies were unable to form any meaningful partnerships.

Fatima Sana was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 16 in her seven overs. Nashra Sandhu (2-31) and Rameen Shamim (2-26) supported well, maintaining tight lines and taking key middle-order wickets.

The defeat is a serious blow to the West Indies’ qualification hopes, with just one win from three games and two matches remaining.

Earlier in the tournament, they suffered a narrow loss to Scotland and edged out Ireland in a close contest.

For Pakistan, the win significantly boosts their chances of qualifying for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup in India.

The hosts have shown consistent form throughout the event and are emerging as strong contenders in the six-team competition.

The ongoing qualifier features Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand, with all matches being played at the Gaddafi Stadium and LCCA Ground in Lahore.

The top two teams from the round-robin stage will secure their place in the Women’s World Cup later this year.
