ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has assumed charge of the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Naqvi, the 30th ACC president has  succeeded Shammi Silva, the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

“I am profoundly privileged to take on the role of president for the Asian Cricket Council,” Naqvi said.

“Asia truly pulses at the core of global cricket, and I am dedicated to collaborating with all member boards to amplify the sport’s expansion and worldwide impact. Together, we will unveil fresh opportunities, enhance our partnerships, and elevate cricket in Asia to extraordinary new heights.”

Vital leadership

He also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing ACC President for his vital leadership and contributions during his tenure.

In reflecting on the transition, Silva conveyed his appreciation for the ACC community: “It has been an honour to serve as President of the Asian Cricket Council. The unwavering dedication of our member boards to unity has been essential in boosting the ACC’s prominence throughout the region.”

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to my predecessor, under whose guidance the ACC achieved remarkable milestones — from securing the highest commercial rights value for the ACC Asia Cup to introducing a new events pathway structure and fostering the ongoing development of cricket in Asia. As I step down, I am fully confident that, with Naqvi at the helm, the ACC will continue its extraordinary journey and flourish.”

Pakistan has recently successfully hosted its inaugural international tournament, the Champions Trophy 2025.
