ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal said on Tuesday that Pakistan’s blue economy had a potential of over 100 billion US dollars.
Addressing the international seminar titled “Geo Economic & Maritime dimensions of CPEC”, the minister said that the government was starting new projects to develop the coastal areas of the country.
He said that the government has expedited work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects to bring home prosperity and development.
Iqbal said that the Pakistan Muslim League’s (PML-N) previous government launched CPEC and the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif gave it full attention to make it a success. But when Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) came to power in 2018, the CPEC projects were halted.
Every Pakistani should work for economy stabilization
Highlighting the current hardships Pakistan is faced with, he said that it was the duty of every Pakistani to work hard and play his role in the stabilization of the economy, bringing prosperity and development in the country and increasing per capita income in Pakistan.
The minister said that the government was also focusing on starting new projects in collaboration with the private sector to minimize the burden on the government treasury.
