ISLAMABAD: Russia has stated that it will enhance bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in diverse sectors including investment, diplomacy and trade.
According to Radio Pakistan, this was stated by visiting Speaker of the Federation Council of Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko during her talks with Pakistan’s Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani in Islamabad on Monday.
The meeting also discussed in detail, the matters related to promotion of economic, diplomatic, commercial and parliamentary ties between the two nations.
Speaking on the occasion, Gillani said that Valentina Matviyenko’s trip to Pakistan will give a new boost to relations between the two nations and will promote regional development, peace, as well as prosperity.
He also lauded Moscow’s support to Pakistan for improvements in infrastructural development and oil and gas fields of Pakistan. He added that promotion of parliamentary ties is need of the hour and a Pak-Russia friendship group has already been set up in the Senate of Pakistan.
He has also underscored the need to find new opportunities in order to promote investment in diverse fields, including further increasing the present trade volume between the two nations. Gillani stated that Pakistan is committed to promote communications for peace in the region.
On the occasion, the Speaker of the Federation Council of Russian Federal Assembly stated that Moscow highly values its ties with Islamabad. She further said that promotion of parliamentary ties will not only augment trade and investment between the two nations, but also help bring the two peoples closer.
