ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly denounced attack on the residence of the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Khartoum, Sudan.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson in a statement termed such assaults a violation of global law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961 that uphold the respect for diplomatic premises as well as personnel.
The residence of the envoy of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Khartoum came under attack which caused extensive damage to the compound.
UAE has said that it would send complaints to the League of Arab States, the United Nations and the African Union.
Violent clashes have taken place in the city over the last week in a major flare-up of hostilities between Sudan’s army and its rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Earlier, in a statement UAE’s ministry for foreign affairs has denounced the assault and called on the Sudan’s military to assume complete responsibility for the “cowardly act.” Sudan’s government has said that the RSF had bombed the ambassador’s house.
