NEW DELHI, India: The Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee (DMCC) and Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), supported by the Meitei Alliance and Global Manipur Federation (GMF), held a protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
They condemned the alleged aerial attacks by Kuki militants on Meitei civilians in Manipur. The protest followed drone attacks on September 1 in Koutruk, Imphal East, killing a young woman, and a rocket attack on September 6 in Moirang Phiwangbam Leikai, Bishenpur, killing a senior citizen.
The protestors accused Kuki militants of using advanced technology to further their separatist agenda of establishing an independent “Kukiland.” They criticized both the Central and State governments for allegedly supporting Kuki politicians and separatists rather than investigating international involvement in the violence.
The protesters also condemned the heavy police action against Meitei students and civilians while claiming that Kuki protests were allowed to proceed peacefully in Kuki-dominated districts. They raised concerns about the increasing targeting of Meira Paibis (women vigilante groups) and Meitei civilians by central security forces, further deepening ethnic divisions.
The protest called for a unified command of security forces and demanded accountability from both the Central and State governments, urging them to ensure that Manipur remains undivided along ethnic lines.
