LIMA, Peru: Peru’s foreign ministry ordered Venezuelan diplomats to leave the country within 72 hours on Monday, following Venezuela’s ruling party’s declaration of an election victory. This decision has been heavily contested by the Venezuelan opposition and independent pollsters, who have deemed the results implausible.

In an official statement, the Peruvian ministry cited “serious and arbitrary decisions made today by the Venezuelan regime” as the reason for the expulsion. This action underscores Peru’s stance against what it perceives as a violation of the Venezuelan people’s popular will.

Earlier on Monday, Peru had already expressed its disapproval by recalling its ambassador from Venezuela. The expulsion of Venezuelan diplomats marks a significant escalation in diplomatic tensions between the two nations, reflecting Peru’s firm stance on upholding democratic principles and condemning electoral fraud.

This move aligns with broader international concerns about the integrity of Venezuela’s electoral processes and the ongoing political crisis in the country.
