JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli colonial practices, especially the confiscation of thousands of acres of Palestinian land. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the recent incident involved the confiscation of archaeological sites in the village of Sebastia, in the Nablus governorate.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation emphasized that these practices are part of a destructive policy carried out by the Israeli occupation at hundreds of archaeological, scientific and historical sites, as well as places of worship in Gaza and the West Bank, including the occupied city of Jerusalem, the SPA added.

These acts, said OIC, aim to plunder, erase, and distort the cultural and civilizational heritage of Palestinians, in clear defiance of global law, relevant UN resolutions, the Geneva Convention, and the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its protocols, according to the SPA.

The organization also urged the world, particularly the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to take immediate action to safeguard the tangible and intangible cultural assets in the occupied Palestinian territory.
