Saudi Arabia Among Top Investors in Clean Energy, Climate Change Mitigation: Minister

RIO DE JANEIRO: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir has attended a dialogue session during the FII PRIORITY Rio de Janeiro Summit organized by the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute.

During the session held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Al-Jubeir highlighted the Kingdom’s endeavors in energy development, aspiring to become a major global energy provider across all forms, including clean, renewable, and traditional energy sources.

He said that while petroleum will remain vital for decades, efficient energy production and resource preservation are crucial to safeguarding Earth’s natural resources.

Highlighting the Kingdom’s initiatives, Al-Jubeir said that Saudi Arabia is one of the largest investors in clean energy and has significant projects aimed at combatting climate change, such as the waste recycling program and large-scale renewable energy projects, including one of the world’s largest hydrogen projects in NEOM, northern Saudi Arabia.

He elaborated on the key aspects and objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, emphasizing improvements in quality of life, youth empowerment, and attracting investments for stability, growth, and prosperity in the Kingdom.

Moreover, Al-Jubeir stressed the importance of global cooperation and communication to tackle challenges, particularly those related to climate change. He underscored Saudi Arabia’s strategic location among three continents and vital waterways, positioning the Kingdom as a key player in energy markets and a significant global investor.

Moreover, Al-Jubeir highlighted the Middle East Green Initiative as a prominent Saudi initiative fostering international cooperation on climate-related issues.
