BISHKEK:  The Embassy of Pakistan in Kyrgyzstan has asked students to stay indoors after a brawl involving foreign nationals in Bishkek on Friday night.

According to the local media reports, the Pakistani Embassy said that several students sustained minor injuries during the recent brawl. They noted that dormitories of medical schools in Bishkek were targeted. These dormitories accommodated students from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

As a precautionary measure, the Pakistani Embassy advised students to remain indoors until the situation stabilizes.

The unrest emerged after a confrontation between locals and foreigners in a Bishkek hostel. Youth gathered at the intersection of Chui Prospekt and Kurmanjan Datka Street to demand justice for the incident and address concerns regarding illegal migration.

Bishkek police chief Azamat Toktonaliev met with the protesters, assuring them that the foreigners involved in the matter had been arrested.
