PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Ghandapur, issued a strong condemnation of the blast that occurred in Bohar Bazar on the main University road, directing the Inspector General of Police to furnish a comprehensive report on the incident.
The blast resulted in the tragic loss of two lives and left another individual injured.
Speaking to the media at the blast site, SSP Operation Kashif Aftab Abbasi revealed that investigations are underway to determine whether the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber aboard a motorcycle with an accomplice or if the explosives were being transported for a larger-scale attack. He disclosed that approximately 4 to 5 kilograms of explosives were used, indicating a significant threat level.
While the specific target of the blast is yet to be determined, authorities are actively pursuing leads and identifying potential suspects. The motorcycle involved in the explosion was reportedly traveling from Bohar Bazaar to Nasir Bagh, further raising questions about the intended destination and motive behind the attack.
Despite initial assessments suggesting a possible suicide bombing, the investigation remains ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The injured individual has been admitted to Khyber Teaching Hospital for medical treatment, with the severity of their condition yet to be determined.
Following the blast, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area, and emergency response teams from Rescue 1122 promptly arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion claimed the lives of two individuals and caused injuries to another, underscoring the urgent need for heightened vigilance and security measures in the region.
