ISLAMABAD: One of the best all-rounders and former Australian cricketer Shane Watson is likely to become the new head coach of the Pakistan national team as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated the move for the post ahead of the New Zealand T20I series.

Shane Watson who is considered to be one of the best of all time two all-rounders in the world and currently serving as the coach of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), is the strong contender for the slot.

Apart from Watson, current head coach and former skipper of Peshawar Zalmi Darren Sammy is also in the race, however, according to media reports the Australian player is likely to be the first pick for the slot and among the favourite candidates.

The Cricket Board is likely to announce the decision in the coming days, as the Black Caps are scheduled to visit Pakistan next month for the T20I series.
