WASHINGTON: The US has no plans to send troops into war-hit Gaza to support humanitarian assistance missions in the besieged Palestinian enclave, said the Pentagon on Tuesday.

Spokesman Air Force Major General Pat Ryder said, according to his knowledge at this point, there are no plans to send any US forces into Gaza.

He added the US continues to plan for airborne aid delivery missions.

Meanwhile, Palestinian resistance group Hamas has blamed Israel of procrastination in peace talks and warned that indirect negotiations would not remain open without progress.

Hamas leader Osama Hamdan told media in Beirut that Israel is not interested in stopping the ongoing aggression against Palestinians in Gaza or releasing prisoners.

He said Israel and US have failed on the ground, and will not be able to achieve anything through political manoeuvres.

He added Hamas in Cairo presented its vision for a ceasefire suggestion, stressing complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza Strip, return of the displaced persons and delivery of sufficient aid, relief, and reconstruction.

The UN’s food agency has said that its aid convoy had been turned away by Israeli forces at Gaza’s border, after which it was looted by desperate people.

According to Gaza health ministry more than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombardment in Gaza since the start of the war between Hamas and Israel on October 7.
