BEIRUT: Israel launched its most intense attacks on a single location in Lebanon’s south on Tuesday, targeting a border valley with air strikes and artillery, a local official and a security source said, as reported by AFP.

According to a local official, Israel carried out its most intense attacks on a single location in Lebanon’s south, targeting the Sluki valley with a combination of air strikes and artillery.

The Israeli army confirmed conducting “aerial and artillery strikes” on Hezbollah targets in the Sluki valley, launching more than 14 air strikes on the area, making it the most concentrated assault on a single location since the exchange of cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israel began after the Israel-Hamas war started on October 7.

Israel Claims Targeting Hezbollah Posts in Lebanon

The Israeli military, in its statement, mentioned hitting “dozens of Hezbollah posts, military structures, and weapons infrastructure.” The army accused Hezbollah of concealing assets and infrastructure in the forested area, allegedly intended for attacks on Israeli soldiers.

Hezbollah, in response, claimed several attacks on Israeli positions and troops on the same day. The Sluki valley and neighboring areas were historically known as Hezbollah’s primary operational zones against Israel during more than two decades of Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon, which concluded in 2000.

The air strikes on the Sluki Valley were accompanied by heavy artillery shelling, although there were no reported casualties at the time of the reports. Israel’s military actions have been ongoing for over three months, resulting in a significant number of casualties. In Lebanon, more than 190 people, mostly civilians, have been killed. In northern Israel, nine soldiers have lost their lives, according to Israeli authorities.
