NEW DELHI: In the run-up to the highly anticipated Ram Mandir consecration ceremony on January 22 in Ayodhya, India, the walls of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi became a canvas for controversial slogans demanding the reconstruction of Babri Masjid.

The graffiti, featuring the message “Rebuild Babri Masjid 6 December,” was prominently displayed on the first floor of the School of Language, with the tag “NSUI” (National Students’ Union of India) beneath it. The incident, captured in photos that circulated widely on social media, echoes a previous defacement in October, where messages like “Free Kashmir,” “Teri Kabra Khudegi” (Grave of yours will be dug), and “Bhagwa Jalega” were sprayed on JNU walls.
