Pakistan’s President Highlights Role of Religious Leaders in Education, Health Awareness

KARACHI: Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, during a meeting with a delegation from Darul Uloom Karachi at Sindh Governor House, highlighted the importance of engaging religious leaders and mosque Imams in the implementation of health and education guidelines. Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr. Aneeq Ahmed, was also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, President Alvi emphasized the potential of mosques and religious schools (Madaris) to actively contribute to the promotion of education and welfare in the country. He urged the development of a toolkit for mental health and wellness at the earliest, recognizing the role of religious platforms in creating awareness about mental health.

Pakistan’s President Calls for Toolkit for Mental Health 

Addressing the need to address the educational challenges, President Alvi stressed the importance of collaborative efforts with mosques and Madaris to educate approximately 36 percent of the country’s out-of-school children.

The meeting focused on discussing the role of mosques in promoting health and education principles within society. It also explored the possibilities of establishing a collaborative approach between the government and religious institutions to implement comprehensive health and education guidelines.

Prior to this meeting, President Alvi had discussions with a delegation from the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning, where matters related to mental health were brought to the forefront.
