ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s export of services and goods to Afghanistan experienced an increase of 2.65 percent during the first four months of the current fiscal year (2023-24) as compared to the exports of the same period of the previous year, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported.
The SBP data revealed that overall exports to Afghanistan were recorded at US $180.686 million during July-October (2023-24) against US $176.019 million exports during July- October (2022-23).
According to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), on a year-to-year basis, exports to Afghanistan showed a notable increase of 6.57 percent, rising from $48.862 million in October 2022 to $52.077 million in October 2023.
Similarly, on a month-on-month basis, exports to Afghanistan experienced a substantial surge of 29.49% in October 2023 compared to $40.217 million in September 2023.
As per SBP data, the broader perspective on Pakistan’s exports to various countries revealed an overall increase of 1.13 percent in the initial four months, progressing from US $9.666 billion to US $9.776 billion.
Meanwhile, imports from Afghanistan into Pakistan during the specified period were recorded at US $1.898 million, marking an 81.30 percent decline from the same period of last year when imports stood at US $10.151 million.
The imports year-on-year showed a substantial decrease of 57.60 percent, with imports from Afghanistan dropping from US $1.991 million in October 2022 to US $0.844 million in October 2023.
According to the provided data, on a month-on-month scale, imports from Afghanistan into Pakistan saw a remarkable increase of 446.44 percent in October 2023 compared to US $0.149 million imports in September 2023.
The overall imports into Pakistan experienced a decline of 20.06 percent, decreasing from $21.007 billion to US $16.791 billion, according to the data. —APP
