SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmad Shah, currently detained in New Delhi’s Tihar jail, has called upon the Kashmiri people to observe a complete shutdown on Friday in protest against a blasphemous video about the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH).

The offensive video was posted by a non-Kashmiri student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah, terming the blasphemous act as unacceptable, emphasized that Kashmiri Muslims would not tolerate any mockery of their religion. He asserted that the honor of the Holy Prophet holds greater significance than their lives. Shah, from his confinement, expressed serious concern about the incident and urged for an independent probe to ensure the real culprits face justice.

The detained leader called for educational institutions to be liberated from individuals with a criminal mindset, emphasizing the need to prevent colleges and universities from becoming battlegrounds that nurture hatred and discord. Shah lamented the unfortunate situation where Kashmiri students face arrests under anti-terror laws for supporting a victorious team, while non-Kashmiri students are allowed to pursue divisive and communal agendas without consequences.

In addition to condemning the blasphemous video incident, Shabbir Shah voiced strong opposition to the dismissal of Kashmiri government employees, the illegal arrests of Kashmiri students under draconian laws, and the confiscation of public properties. The call for a complete shutdown is a collective expression of protest against these perceived injustices.
