BEIJING: “Generally, the Chinese side has always wanted Pakistan to grow and develop using the advantage of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It would become a new engine for the economic development of Pakistan,” said Chairman of KASB Group, Nasir Ali Shah Bukhari.
Speaking at the recent event “10 Years of Belt and Road Initiative – CPEC,” Nasir Bukhari claimed that the initiative launched as a game-changer in Pakistan, had altered millions of people’s lives there.
“Energy, transport infrastructure, and power projects such as Gwadar port, Gwadar East-Bay Motorway, and Sahiwal Power Plant have laid a solid foundation for Pakistan’s economic development,” he stated.
A report presented during an event and reported by CEN, a Pakistan stock brokerage and corporate advisory firm, claimed that since its inception, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has played a pivotal role in fostering economic and social well-being in Pakistan. This results from job creation, personnel exchange, poverty reduction, and the initiation of various humanitarian projects.
According to the report, CPEC has substantially contributed to Pakistan’s economy by catalyzing the growth of vital sectors, including textiles, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure.
During the seminar, Federal Minister for Privatization Fawad Hasan Fawad delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing that CPEC is a platform for learning and developing a global perspective.
He pointed out the remarkable success of the Chinese approach, rooted in their forward-thinking and futuristic outlook, which presents a valuable opportunity for others to learn from.
Former CPEC Head Hassan Daud Butt also spoke at the event, dispelling rumors surrounding CPEC. He affirmed that over the past decade, CPEC has been instrumental in promoting sustainable development and progress in Pakistan.
He said the project is now entering a new phase characterized by high-quality development and expanded cooperation in science and technology, agriculture, and improving people’s livelihoods.
Tahir Aslam, MD of Fongrow, Ali Majid, General Manager of Pakistani Division, LONGi, and Sufian Ahmad Ch, Head of Marketing, Xiaomi Pak, shared ideas on Information Technology, energy, and agriculture during the panel discussion sessions. —APP
