JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly Condemned Israeli criticism of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, a statement said on Thursday. The statement expressing “its strong condemnation of the disrespectful and threatening remarks by Israel against the UN chief “.

The statement was issued by the OIC following Israel called for the UN Secretary General to quit over a speech in which he said that the Hamas assault on October 7th “did not occur in a vacuum” and came following decades of “suffering occupation”. The OIC further said Israel is committing an “act of political pressure against the United Nations”.

It added the OIC considered the UN chief’s speech at the UNSC to be in line with his responsibilities derived from global law, humanitarian law, as well as from the resolutions of the UN.
The OIC expressed its profound respect to the UN Secretary-General for the role of the UN agencies and their tireless efforts at every level to prevent the war crimes being perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians and their land.
