TEHRAN: Iran on Monday warned that time is running out to find a political solution in the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, cautioning of the risk of expanding the war to other fronts.

The statement comes amidst intensifying violence, with Israel’s recent declaration of war on the Palestinian resistance group Hamas following a breach of Gaza’s heavily militarized border on October 7.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi held telephone conversations with his Russian and Turkish counterparts, during which he emphasized the urgency of ceasefire. He described the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza as “the brutal attacks” by Israel on Gaza. Raisi explicitly warned of the possibility of the conflict spreading to additional fronts, a scenario he suggested would significantly complicate the situation.

In his call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Raisi expressed concerns about the potential expansion of the conflict, highlighting the challenges of controlling the situation if it escalates further. He stressed the importance of urgent action to prevent a wider war.

Iran Warns Times is Running Out for Political Solution

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that time is running out for political solutions to the conflict. He conveyed to his counterparts in Malaysia, Pakistan, and Tunisia that the possible spread of war to other fronts is approaching an inevitable stage, underscoring the urgency of finding a resolution.

As Israel prepares for a potential ground invasion into the Gaza Strip, fears for the safety of innocent Palestinian civilians trapped in the heavily bombarded enclave have escalated. Iran has repeatedly warned that a ground invasion could prompt a response from other fronts, raising concerns about the possibility of a wider conflict drawing in multiple countries.

During the conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Raisi emphasized the critical importance of immediate action, stating that “minutes” would be “vital” in halting Israel’s attacks on Gaza. Raisi expressed Iran’s readiness to send humanitarian aid to Gaza, underscoring the nation’s concern for the well-being of the Palestinian population caught in the midst of the conflict.
