Pakistan’s Prime Minister Meets Chinese Vice-President in New York

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar and Mr. Han Zheng, the Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China held a meeting on the sidelines of the UNGA Session in New York on Thursday.

The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere that has been the hallmark of Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

The two sides during the meeting exchanged views on the bilateral relationship including CPEC and bilateral economic and financial cooperation.

PM reiterates support for China on core issues

The Prime Minister reiterated support for China on core issues and appreciated China’s unwavering support to Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and socio-economic development. He said that China’s strong opposition to holding any G20 meeting in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir demonstrated China’s principled stance for upholding international law and UN resolutions.

Vice-President Han expressing his views said that the Pakistan-China friendship is unique and there are deep fraternal ties between the peoples of the two nations. He said that as a close neighbor and iron brother, Pakistan occupies a special position in China’s foreign diplomacy and that China would continue its efforts to safeguard Pakistan’s main interest.

Expressing satisfaction at the progress of CPEC projects in Pakistan, the two sides agreed on the centrality of CPEC for Pakistan’s socio-economic development and expressed their strong commitment to continue working together to realize their common objectives.

The two sides also expressed satisfaction at the events held in both countries to mark the 10th anniversary of CPEC. They also agreed to further strengthen their cooperation at the multilateral forums.

Prime Minister Kakar and Vice-President Han vowed to continue the momentum of high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Beijing. The Prime Minister invited the Chinese Vice-President to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience which he accepted.
