MOSCOW: Russian-Chinese relations, which have reached an unprecedented historical level, will continue to strengthen, says President Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented historical level.
Russia’s state news agency RIA reported that the Russian president met with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Kuoqing on Tuesday.
“Relations between Russia and China have reached an absolutely unprecedented historical level in recent years,” the news agency quoted Putin as saying.
We will continue this work together.”
According to newspaper reports, during their meeting, Putin and Zhang Kuoqing will discuss bilateral contacts at the “highest level” until the end of the year, a Kremlin spokesman told a Russian news agency on Tuesday.
Putin is due to meet China’s vice premier in Vladivostok, where Russia is hosting a major economic forum this week.
“[This is] another opportunity to quickly compare notes, including in the context of the highest-level bilateral contacts planned for the end of this year,” said Dmitry Peskov’s spokesman for the Russian agency.
Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said in July that Putin plans to visit China in October at the time of its third “Belt and Road” forum, responding to an invitation issued by Xi Jinping during a state visit to Russia in March.
