Turkiye- Iraq Oil Flows Not Expected to Restore Before October: Arab Media

BAGHDAD: Iraqi oil flows to Turkiye are not likely to be restored before October, when Turkish President Erdogan will expectedly visit Baghdad, following the visit originally scheduled for August was delayed, Arab media reported on Tuesday.

Arab News quoted sources as saying that Turkiye- Iraq oil flows are not expected to be restored before October.

Ankara halted Iraqi northern oil export flows on March 25 following an arbitration ruling by the ICC that ordered Turkiye to pay Iraq damages of $1.5 billion for illegal exports from 2014 to 2018.

A top Turkish official said, the Turkish President intends to visit Iraq and “wants a deal to be inked,” but “so far Baghdad has not yet taken any solid steps over the matter”.

However, an Iraqi foreign ministry official, said that they have not yet received a definite timeline from Turkey regarding the Turkish president’s possible visit to Baghdad. However, it said that Erdogan is likely to visit by the end of this month or in October.
